Germany's Next Topmodel Final 2015
by Stage Kinetik
On the 14th of May 2015, the great final of the 10th season of Germany's Next Topmodel took place in the SAP Arena in Mannheim. The show started with a stunning opening. Regrettably, it had to be canceled due to a bomb threat so that not all of our technical refinements could be seen. Fortunately, the bomb threat turned out to be a hoax. Nevertheless, it was a shock for all those involved.
Flying platform for Heidi Klum and curved trusses on chain hoists
The show was opened with Heidi Klum standing on a flying platform, which was hung on chain hoists and covered with a fabric, while floating on it from the ceiling to the stage. The upper fabric attachments could be released using a KABUKI system so that the platform with the presenter on it was disclosed during the flight.
Concentric curved trusses were attached to the ceiling around the flying platform. The trusses were hooked on DGUV V17 Movecat chain hoists as per SIL3 and could be moved individually. A total of 25 chain hoists was attached to 5 curved trusses, whereas a total weight of 9500 kilograms was applied to the hall ceiling.
Lifting platform with 3 meter curved truss used for the opening
A lifting platform, with a diameter of 3 meters and a lifting height of 2.27 meters, was installed below the flying platform in the stage floor. The plate was supported by a TT curved truss.
LED wall (16 x 8 meters) with 5328 kilograms of load applied to the hall ceiling
The LED wall was 16 meters wide, 8 meters high and had a weight of 3900 kilograms. It consisted of 4 elements which could be moved on a 28 meter long EHB track. Together with the tracks, trusses and chain hoists, a weight of 5328 kilograms was applied to the hall ceiling. A light matrix, which was hung of using 2 chain hoists, was located behind the LED wall.
5 meter long treadmill
A 5 meter long treadmill was installed into the floor of the center catwalk on which the Topmodel candidates were to carry out a walk with a wind machine. Due to the bomb threat, this item unfortunately had to be cancelled in the program.
